Block Blast strategy

Block Blast has empty cells, but no piece fits: what to check

Empty cells do not help unless their arrangement fits a piece. A checkerboard can have 32 empty squares and still offer no placement for a domino, an L of three cells or a 2×2 square.

Check the actual shapes

Compare the shape, orientation and position of every occupied cell with the game. A single incorrectly entered square can change the answer. Use the 5×5 shape editor if the piece is missing from the presets.

Try the complete tray

A piece that does not fit now may fit after another piece clears a line. Search all three pieces together instead of checking only the largest.

Read the search status

A completed search with no legal move means no entered piece fits under the supported rules. A completed search with only one or two moves means no sequence places all three. A time-limited search has not proved either conclusion; it only reports what it found.

Know when this tool does not apply

Special tiles, a different board size or a mode with extra rules need a different model. If the input matches and the search is exhausted, the planner cannot create a legal move by inventing an extra piece or rotating one.
