Candy Crush Saga boosters: check what stays selected between attempts
Before retrying a Candy Crush Saga level, check the pre-game booster selection. King's help page says a selected pre-game booster remains active on subsequent attempts. A quick retry can therefore repeat a selection you no longer intended to use.

Read the goal before choosing assistance
Check the level's displayed objective and the board's bottleneck. Decide what needs to change: access to a particular area, a difficult remaining target or the last few moves. A large-looking effect is useful only if it helps the objective you still have.
Use the same check after a failed attempt. Identify the reason for failure before automatically selecting more assistance. This page does not promise a fixed route for a level number, because the board and available features can change.
Review pre-game selections on every retry
Pre-game boosters are chosen before the level and can provide effects such as Special Candies. King warns that the selection stays active when you play the level again. Inspect the selected icons before pressing into another attempt.
If a pre-game booster is not offered on a particular level, King's explanation is that it cannot be used there. Do not assume the missing option means your whole collection has disappeared.
Distinguish a starting selection from a tool used during play
In-game tools are a separate decision. For example, King describes the Lollipop Hammer as a targeted way to remove a candy or obstacle, while Free Switch changes adjacent candies without using a move. Read the current tool description before activating it.
Suppose a replay keeps giving you an unwanted starting selection, but your actual problem is one isolated target near the end. First correct the retained pre-game choice. Then evaluate the finishing problem on its own; do not assume every booster category answers the same need.
When your plan breaks
| What happens | What to change |
|---|---|
| The same booster is selected again after a loss | Review the pre-game selection before retrying; King documents that it remains active across attempts. |
| One booster does not appear before this level | Check level compatibility. Some pre-game boosters are unavailable on particular levels. |
| A powerful effect did not finish the level | Read the remaining objective and check which target the effect actually helped. |
| A guide shows different booster options | Confirm it is Candy Crush Saga, the same board and a comparable game version. |
Quick answers
Does the game always reset my pre-game booster selection after an attempt?
No. King's help page says the selection stays active, so check it yourself before another retry.
Must I buy a booster to use this checklist?
No. The first step is to understand the goal and selected tools. King also lists ways boosters can be earned through play.
