FC 27 controls work offline but not online: check device and layout
An FC 27 control setup that works in an offline match is not automatically eligible for competitive online play. EA’s FC 27 accessibility resources explicitly restrict mouse-and-keyboard and simplified control layouts in competitive online games.

Check the selected input device
For PC, inspect the primary control device and Customize Controls. EA lists mouse-and-keyboard schemes for general play but excludes Mouse + Keyboard from competitive online games. A working menu cursor therefore does not prove that this device combination is supported in the match you selected.
Check the layout as a separate setting
EA also marks simplified One or Two Button controller layouts as unavailable for competitive online games. Read the actual selected layout instead of treating any connected controller as a complete fix. For an eligible mode, choose a supported layout and review its displayed actions before entering a match.
Separate eligibility from a bad binding
Illustrative test: confirm ordinary movement in an offline match, note the device and layout, then compare the online restriction. If a supported setup still fails, record the exact missing action and binding. Changing graphics quality cannot diagnose whether a layout is eligible or whether one action was remapped.
When your plan breaks
| What happens | What to change |
|---|---|
| Menus respond but the competitive match rejects controls | Check device eligibility for that mode. |
| A connected controller still has a restriction | Inspect whether a simplified layout is selected. |
| Only one action fails in a supported layout | Review its binding and report the specific input. |
