Elden Ring Nightreign rescue: attack a near-death ally before the timer ends
A Nightfarer at zero HP enters near-death before dying. Bandai Namco's guide says to attack the ally to revive them. Repeated downs make later rescues harder, so watch the gauge and the enemy threat rather than expecting every rescue to take the same effort.

Recognize a rescue opportunity
Locate the near-death teammate and account for the remaining time. Start the appropriate attacks and watch the rescue gauge until the teammate is actually back on their feet. Merely reaching their position does not complete the process. Check your route in and the enemy currently covering that position.
Coordinate enough space to finish
For example, one teammate is down beside an enemy while both survivors rush into the same attack. A better plan may give one survivor room to work on the rescue while the other manages the immediate threat. The official guide also recommends considering skills and Ultimate Arts for rescue situations; use the character's actual effect rather than assuming every ability performs the same job.
Account for repeated downs before the next fight
The publisher explains that repeated near-death states increase the death gauge and make subsequent rescues harder; reaching a Site of Grace resets that gauge. After recovering, reassess the next destination and preparation instead of immediately repeating the same exposed approach. The gauge is a reason to plan the next recovery opportunity, not a fixed count of attacks that applies to every teammate.
When your plan breaks
| What happens | What to change |
|---|---|
| The ally is still down after I reached them | Carry out the rescue attacks and watch the gauge; proximity alone is not the documented action. |
| A later rescue takes more work | Check repeated near-death buildup rather than assuming the first rescue's effort is universal. |
| The whole squad falls during a rescue | Reconsider the approach, threat management and available character abilities before repeating it. |
Quick answers
What should the surviving players agree on?
Who handles the rescue, who controls the immediate threat and where the squad will move afterward.
Should I memorize one attack count?
Use the actual gauge and character effect. Repeated downs and the rescue situation can change the work required.

Rescue actions and gauge buildup were reviewed against the publisher's gameplay guide. The two-survivor example is a planning scenario, not a tested boss tactic.
