Eternal Return Weapon Skill locked: inspect Weapon Mastery rather than level alone

Weapon Skill availability follows Weapon Mastery requirements, not simply the fact that your character gained another level. Inspect the equipped weapon's skill information and current mastery before spending more ordinary skill points to solve the wrong gate.

Reviewed 2026-10-15 · The weapon-versus-character progression distinction; exact mastery thresholds can change by version

Read the Weapon Skill's current requirement

The weapon reference ties availability and later ranks to Weapon Mastery. Check the requirement displayed for the skill in your current game rather than copying a numerical threshold from an older guide. Identify the actual weapon and its associated skill before comparing progression.

Keep ordinary character upgrades separate

The mastery reference describes character levels and the skill points used for regular character skills. A level-up and a completed ordinary skill upgrade do not by themselves establish that the Weapon Skill's separate mastery requirement has been met. Compare the two progress indicators explicitly.

Diagnose the unavailable action in sequence

For example, a player gains a level, upgrades a character skill and still sees the Weapon Skill unavailable. First compare its mastery requirement with current mastery. If that gate is satisfied, inspect the action's actual availability message and current state rather than continuing to treat every unavailable action as a missing character skill point.

Quick answers

What should I compare with a teammate's advice?

The weapon, Weapon Mastery and current skill requirement, not only character level.

Does this page prescribe a current unlock number?

No. It explains the separate gate and leaves the version-sensitive threshold to the current interface.

Sources & version notes

The progression distinction comes from Eternal Return community item and mastery references. Their old numerical thresholds are not presented as current. The level-up case is illustrative.
