Satisfactory pumps: more head lift does not mean a faster pipe
A Satisfactory Pipeline Pump applies head lift so a fluid can reach a higher elevation. The official community wiki explicitly says pumps do not increase flow rate. Decide whether the failure is elevation or throughput before adding another pump.

Trace where the fluid stops climbing
Follow the pipeline upward and inspect the pump’s head-lift display and direction. The wiki describes the arrows as the flow direction. A pump facing against the intended route is not fixed by adding another identical pump farther along.
Place lift where it is needed
Head lift is about elevation difference, not total pipe length. Use the placement indicators to plan the next rise. Pumps placed together do not simply add their lift into one tall allowance; the wiki recommends spacing them. Check each ascent instead of counting pumps at ground level.
Diagnose a horizontal bottleneck separately
Illustrative setup: a long, level pipe reaches its destination but the machine still lacks enough fluid. Adding head lift does not establish that the source produces enough or the pipeline can carry the required rate. Compare supply, demand and the pipe’s displayed flow before rebuilding the elevation solution.
When your plan breaks
| What happens | What to change |
|---|---|
| Fluid stalls on a climb | Inspect lift, direction and the next rise. |
| Several adjacent pumps did not solve the height | Space pumps according to head-lift indicators. |
| A level pipeline still supplies too little | Inspect throughput and supply; pumps do not increase flow rate. |
Quick answers
Is head lift the total pipeline length?
No. Elevation difference is what matters.
Do gas pipelines need these pumps for height?
The wiki says gases lack the fluid head-lift requirement.
